- Leather bound souvenir program from the banquet celebrating the 100th anniversary of Oliver Hazard Perry's victory in the Battle of Lake Erie held at the Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point, on September 10, 1913. The booklet features an image of Perry in profile on the cover between the damaged fabric remnants of an American flag, and a British flag consisting of a red cross and saltire on a white field, above a silhouette of Perry's ship the NIAGARA. The interior contains information on figures connected with the battle including Perry, as well as Robert H. Barclay, Lewis Cass, Isaac Shelby, and Daniel Dobbins; the menu for the event, a program of toasts, and a list of members of the Inter-State Board of the Perry's Victory Centennial Commission.

- Proclamation, printed on paper and mounted on linen, appointing Russell A. Alger to the position of Colonel in the Fifth Regiment of the Michigan Cavalry Volunteers in 1863, signed by Michigan Governor Austin Blair, Deputy Secretary of State George H. Honse, and Adjutant General John Robertson. The text of the document is as follows: "To all who shall see these Presents, Greeting: Know Ye, That, reposing special trust and confidence in the Patriotism, Valor, Ability and Fidelity of Russell A. Alger in the name and by the authority of the People of the State of Michigan, I do hereby appoint him Colonel in the Fifth Regiment, Michigan Cavalry Volunteers, to rank as such from the Twenty Eighth day of February 1863. He is therefore carefully and diligently to discharge the duties of such office by doing and performing all things thereunto belonging. And I do strictly charge and Require all Officers and Soldiers under his command to be obedient to his orders. And he is to observe and follow such orders and directions, from time to time, as he shall receive from the President of the United States of America, from the Governor of the State of Michigan, or the General or other Superior Officers set over him, according to the rules and discipline of War. This commission to continue in force during the pleasure of the Governor of the State of Michigan, for the time being. In Testimony Whereof, I have caused these Letters to be made patent, and the Great Seal of the State to be hereunto affixed. Given under my hand, at Lansing, this Second day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty three and of the Independence of the United States of America the eighty seventh. By the Governor: Austin Blair George H. Honse Dep Secretary of State. Jno. Robertson Adjutant General."

- Handwritten letter from writer Ann S. Stephens to Charles Christopher Trowbridge in response to his conference of honorary membership in the Michigan Historical Society upon her. The letter is folded with one half marked to show the recipient and return address when folded. The letter reads: New York Feb. 15 /41 To C.C. Trowbridge Esqr. Dear Sir, Permit me to request that you will convey my thanks to the President and members of the Michigan Historical Society, for the honor they have conferred in making me an honorary member of their institution. I have never had the pleasure of visiting your state but feel much interest in the success of your society and shall do anything in my power to aid it, with my whole heart. I did not receive the notice of my election until last January, and at that time was confined by illness to my room. [?] first use which I make of returning health is this [?] to repay my sense of the compliment paid me by the Michigan Historical Society and to wish it all [?] success. Very Respectfully Ann S. - Certificate, printed on paper and mounted on a paper backing, appointing Charles C. Trowbridge to the position of Regent of the University of Michigan, issued February 4th, 1840. The certificate is signed by William Woodbridge, Governor, and Thomas Rowland, Secretary of State, of Michigan. The text of the certificate is as follows: "William Woodbridge Governor in and over the State of Michigan: To all who shall see these presents - Greeting: Know Ye, That reposing special trust and confidence in the integrity and ability of Charles C. Trowbridge I have, in the name, and by the authority of the People of the State of Michigan, nominated, and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, DO APPOINT him, Regent of the University of Michigan in the place of John Norrell resigned. AND I DO HEREBY AUTHORIZE AND EMPOWER him to execute and fulfil the duties of that office according to law. To have and to hold, the said office, with all the Rights, Privileges and Emoluments thereunto belonging, for the residue of the term of four years, for which the said John Norrell was appointed, which term will expire on the ninth day of March 1842. In Testimony Whereof, I have caused these letters to be made patents and the Great Seal of the State to be hereunto affixed. Given under my hand at the City of Detroit, this fourth day of February in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty and of the Independence of the United States of America, the sixty-fourth. By the Governor, William Woodbridge Thomas Rowland Secretary of State."
