- Photographs (1 positive print and 1 negative print). Black and white photo of a Detroit Fire Department water tower truck that is parked on a city street. Two multi-story brick buildings are visible in the background and a large building shadow is visible in the foreground. Handwriting on the verso of the negative print notes "1924 Seagrave Water Tower, DFD, from Clarence Woodard." (The photos appear to be reversed images since there is some illegible handwriting in the lower right corner which is written backwards on the print.)

- Sepia-toned gelatin silver photo of the firemen of Engine Company #6 in front of the fire station building. A horse-drawn steam fire engine is parked in the street and a separate horse-drawn hose wagon is parked behind it. Seven firemen are standing in front of the two vehicles. One fireman is seated in the driver's seat of the fire engine and another in the driver's seat of the hose wagon. The name of each fireman is written along the bottom of the photo as follows (left to right): Peter Ortwine, Max Worth, Charles Little, Peter Smith, Frank Kelliger, Dan Carroll, Billy Werner, Ted Denier, Jim O'Grady. Several bystanders can be seen in the background and a policeman is standing at the far right. The brick fire station building shows the number, "6," carved in the keystone over the central doorway. The structure also incudes a watchtower and five people are standing on the balcony. On the left side of the building (midway up at the corner), the street name sign, "Russell St.," is visible. The word, "Russell," can also be seen on the glass of the streetlight that is located behind the fire engine. Handwriting on the verso notes "Man on extreme right is Henry Miller, policeman. A noted character in the Police Dept." and also "This is one of two engines and crews who went to Chicago fire in 1871. No. 3 was the other."

- Sepia-toned photo of the Belle Isle bridge burning on April 27, 1915, as taken from an elevated position along the Detroit riverfront to the west of the foot of the bridge. Most of the bridges trusses have burned, leaving bare columns however two trusses near the center of the river still stand, and one on the north side has partially collapsed into the river. The Detroit Fire Department fire tug JAMES BATTLE sprays water on the remaining trusses on the north end. A large cloud of smoke rises from the center trusses. In the foreground at the lower left, several spectators watch from the riverfront beyond a wooden fence.

- Sepia-toned black and white photo showing a front corner view of the Fireman's Hall. The photo shows a 2-story painted brick building with a short steeple A sign on the front over the second-floor windows shows "1839, Firemen's Hall." The front of the hall faces on Bates Street as indicated by the street sign that can be seen on the side of the building near the corner. The ground floor has three shops and, presumably, the hall was located on the second floor. Shops on the ground floor include: "Chas. R. Brand, House & Sign Painting" and "J. W. Ezekiel, Auction & Commission" and "C. Govin. Merchant Tailor." A typewritten label on the verso shows "First Firemen's Hall, 1939. Larned St. East between Bates St. and Woodward." An ink stamp on the verso shows "Photograph by The Detroit News, Not to be Published."

- A mounted, glossy, sepia-toned photographic print of the "Launch of Fireboat James Battle," as titled at the lower left corner. The fire tug, stern facing the camera, is being side-launched and is kicking up a splash at Wyandotte's Detroit Shipbuilding Company. Crowds are visible along the sides of the dock, as well as on the roof of a structure in the foreground. A sailor, adjusting his footing, is on the deck of the JAMES BATTLE. "Detroit Photographic Co." is written in the lower right corner of the print. "With compliments of Wm. Cason," handwritten on verso. Matting is green cardstock.

- Sepia-toned composite group portrait of the members of the Detroit Fire Department in 1890, composed of 207 separate head-and-shoulder portraits of unidentified firefighters arranged in rows on the right, and, on the left, portraits of Chief James Battle, Assistant Chiefs James R. Elliott and Mark H. Gascoigne, First Battalion Chief John Kendall, Second Battalion Chief James C. Broderick, Third Battalion Chief William J. Gowan, Superintendent of Horses Allan. Armstrong, and Master Mechanic Francis Beaufait, as well as a photo of Detroit Fire Department Headquarters on the northeast corner of Wayne Street and Larned Street. Images of several pieces of firefighting equipment for a design surrounding the portrait of Battle, and the left edge of the image. A.G. - Photographic Print (1 copy). Sepia-toned albumen cabinet card photo of a fireman who is standing beside a small table. He is also holding the handle of an axe that is resting on the floor. His shirt has been hand-colored in purple and the number, "5," has been handwritten his badge. Handwriting on the verso notes, "M. Pasco." The copy photo is somewhat faded although there is some coloring on his shirt. Handwriting on the verso of the copy shows "Mark Pasco."

- Sepia-toned glossy photo of a Detroit Fire Department Packard squad car. The car is parked on a brick driveway near the corner of a building and shows the driver and the left side of the vehicle. The car is right-hand drive since the steering wheel is on the right side. "Engine 30" can be seen on the firemen's helmets that are attached to the horizontal bar at the back of the squad car. The number, "04885," is handwritten in black ink in the lower right corner of the photo. Handwriting on the verso shows "D.F.D., Second Packard squad car taken while in service as old Engine No. 30, then located on east side of Hastings St. between East Larned and Congress Streets, and was quartered with Engine No. 2 in the same station. This unit was delivered Oct. 18, 1910, to the Detroit Fire Dept., was factory serial no. 15957 and dept. no. 215. The squad car was sent to engine 34 (later to become squad 2) in 1912. The unit remained there until March, 1922, when it was placed in reserve service. The squad car was presented to the Detroit Historical Museum in 1934." A blue ink stamp on the verso shows "Spooner & Wells Photograph, 1231 Woodward Ave."
