- Three faculty members, Helen Brown, Margaret Large, and Marcella Faustman, dressed as court jesters. Brown began at Western in 1947 in Women's Physical Education and retired from the Dance Department in 1981. Large began in Women's Physical Education in 1949 and retired in 1979. Faustman began in the Music Department in 1951 and retired in 1977.

Routsong published her first two novels under her name, including Round Shape (Houghton Mifflin, 1959) and subsequent works under the pen name Isabel Miller and went onto win the first Stonewall Book Award for Patience and Sarah which was originally self-published under the title A Place For Us.

- Dr. Robert Sargent Shriver Jr. receiving an honorary Doctory of Laws degree at the June 1965 Commencement. Dr. James Miller and Dr. Dale Faunce are standing to either side of Shriver. The photograph appeared in Western Michigan University Magazine Vol. 23 No. 3. Shriver was the driving force behind the creation of the Peace Corps, and founded the Job Corps.
