- Woman's coat and dress evening ensemble of black and white floral print satin clocque. The floor length coat has a round neckline without a closing. The sleeves are pleated at the shoulder, then fall kimono-like to a three quarter length. The coat is seamed up the center back, and lined with acetate. The floor length dress has a fitted camisole bodice with spaghetti straps seed beads and dangling pendant beads. It zips down the back. The ensemble has a Ruth Joyce label.

- Woman's two piece afternoon dress in dark royal blue velvet. The dress has an oval neckline outlined with iridescent dark blue beads, and an elaborate bib-type ornament in front. It has an un-beaded back, and short sleeves. The waist-length jacket is of matching fabric, and has three quarter length sleeves with turn-back cuffs. Has matching purse #68.259.001. Worn by donor at the affair honoring her husband's appointment to the United Nations in 1954.

- Description:
- Woman's white silk charmuese dress with short chiffon sleeves. It has a V-neck that is edged with net, and an ecru lace yoke. The bodice is bloused with a second layer of material bloused to the waist, and heavily trimmed with gold and silver metallic thread, and strings of gold beads. The waist cummerbund lays over the top of a moderately full skirt. An overskirt pannier reaches to the hips, and is trimmed with the same metallic embroidery and gold beads as the bodice. The overskirt is slightly caught up in front by a sash (embroidered with bead fringe). The dress fastens in the back. Label: J. Hock, Detroit. This gown belonged to the donor's mother, Mrs. Hugo Scherer of Detroit.

- This woman's light grey silk cocktail or formal gown has a flesh-colored yoke that is heavily beaded with pearls, rhinestones, and crystal. It has short sleeves, and a jewel neckline. The natural waistline is also outlined with two rows of beadwork. The skirt is gored and extremely full. It has an 11" hem, and attached petticoats of tan crepe and silk faced bottom interlined with horsehair. Back zipper and covered buttons with loop fastenings where chiffon begins. Worn by donor. - This is a woman's pantsuit evening ensemble. The cardigan jacket and shell are completely covered in sequins and beads to suggest the cables of traditonal knit tennis wear. The V-neck cardigan has a 1.25" wide decorative band of blue thread, green sequins, and red and white beads that extends around the neck and down the center front. The long sleeves have bead covered cuffs. The jacket has five gold buttons for its center front closure. It has a 2.75" wide beaded band at the hem, shoulder pads, and is completely lined in ecru silk. The jacket has a Bill Blass label. The collarless shell has the same colors and materials as jacket. It has a multicolored band around its neck. Its center back has an invisible zipper, and also has a beaded band around the armholes and the bottom hem. It is completely lined in ecru silk, and labeled Bill Blass. The slacks are white wool with two center front pleats, and straight legs with 1.5" cuff. The side opening has an invisible zipper, and hook-and-eye closures. The slacks have a white silk lining, and two loops for hanging. The slacks have a label that reads: Bill Blass; made in USA of Imported Fabric. This "tennis ensemble" is from the 1980 Bill Blass collection.

- Woman's evening gown of black silk with scroll-leaf brocade pattern; square neckline with net insert, short sleeves, empire style, draped skirt; bodice covered with black sequins, beaded fringe with drop-shaped sequins; ladder shaped jet-bead tassel hanging from center of bodice; black net and sequin panel with beaded fringe down left side. Label: Bertha A. Krenz. Belonged to donor's mother, Mrs. James R. Hayes; Mr. Hayes was proprietor of the Wayne Hotel from the 1880's until 1918. The dress was made by Bertha A. Krenz whose shop was on High Street (Vernor ).

- Woman's navy-beaded purse with satin lining and a metal frame. The closure is a gold clasp of two acorn-shaped pieces. The purse folds in the center. It is decorated with midnight blue beads in flower and vine design across the bottom and the reverse side of the top half which folds over. The purse in completely edged with six rows of beads, and lightly beaded throughout. Matches dress #68.259.002. Label: Made in Belgium. Part of the donor's outfit at an affair honoring her husband's appointment to the United Nations in 1954.

- Woman's muted turquoise crepe evening gown having a straight undecorated skirt, fitted, dropped waist. The dress has a round, jewel neckline, cap sleeves (shoulder pads have been removed), and a bodice decorated with 1 1/2" x 3/4" beaded ovals in shades of pink, black, silver, and gold. Three lines of pink and silver beads edge the neck and sleeves. Side zipper. 6 1/2" wide gathered panel in back, starting from a 2 1/4" wide strip of machine shirring at the waist seam, suggests a bustle. Label: Florice, Washington Blvd., Detroit.

- Women's black silk velvet, one piece dress having short sleeves, a V-neck, and an ankle length skirt with a peg top. The bodice has black net over white net, and sleeves of plain, double-thick black net. The bodice is trimmed with black and crystal sequins, and jet and crystal beads. The sides of the dress have triangular panniers, shaped with weights. Worn by Mrs. Wm. Traub.
