Griswold Street is one block west of Woodward Avenue and is the Wall Street of Detroit, being lined on either side with office buildings. - Color postcard depicting the Union Trust and Hammond Buildings from the corner of Griswold and Congress Streets. Printed on verso: Union Trust and Hammond Buildings. Two of the best known office structures in the city are shown in this picture, the Union Trust Building in the foreground, and the Hammond Building on the left. The former is one of the solidest structures in the city, and was finished in 1896 at a cost of $500,000. It is owned by the company whose name it bears. It has two marble stairways and includes 250 suites of offices. The two buildings occupy the entire frontage on Griswold St. between Fort and Congress. Handwritten message on verso reads, "I think you are a fraud." Postmarked from Sept. 22, 1920. "No. 221 Published by A.C. Dietsche, Detroit, Mich. Printed in Germany'" is printed along the left edge of the verso.
