This version of the Bible is as famous in Germany as the King James Version is in England. The type-face used in this printing is known as "Franktur." - A leaf from the Third Edition of Christopher Saur's German Bible. It was printed by Saur in Germantown, Pennsylvania, 1776. Most copies of this edition were destroyed during the Revolution by soldiers who used the paper for cartridges, and in fact only ten known copies exist. The recto side of the page is marked 413 and the verso side is marked 414.
