Emergency potato harvesters from farther south, mostly Kentucky, check out from Presque Isle, Maine, for their homeward trip. About 300 of these farm hands left their home states where there was no labor shortage, to relieve the acute labor shortage in Maine's potato fields. October 1943. Gift of M. Feingold.
