Bands
- Notes:
- A large group photograph, posed in front of the Old City Hall building in Grand Rapids. This was probably related to the Elks Club State Convention that met in Grand Rapids in 1927. A marching band on the left stands next to a base drum labeled “Wolverine Lodge, No. 72, Band, Detroit Michigan I.B.P.O.E. of W. Another marching band on the right stands to a drum labeled “Grand Rapids Melody Band.” In the middle is a large group of men, women, and at least one child. The men wear dark suits and some wear a traditional Elks fez. The women are mostly dressed in white. For more information, see “Negro Elks Open State Convention This Afternoon,” The Grand Rapids Herald, June 12, 1927, p. 12 column 1.
