Aelfric's homily for the Purification (In Purificatione Sanctae Mariae; February 2) in the First Series of Catholic Homilies treats the episode of the presentation of the infant Christ in the Temple, described in the Gospel reading for the day (Luke 2:22-32), including the prophecies of Anna and Simeon, which, although not recounted in the reading, follow from the presentation in the Temple.
