The committee in charge of the dedication program of the American Legion memorial pillars stands in front of one of the pillars, which has not yet been unveiled. Pictured are: 1.Capt. Emil Gansser, president of the Grand Rapids council of the American Legion and master of ceremonies for the dedication; 2.William E. Winegar, general chairman of the executive committee; 3.Mrs. Alma S. Viergever, vice president of the Michigan Department of the Ladies auxiliary; 4.Ray C. Conlon, vice commander of the Michigan Dept. of the American Legion; 5.William DeVriendt, past commander of the Valley City post; 6.Maj. William Haze, past commander of the Earl R. Stewart post; 7.Harry J. Tierney, past commander of the Furniture City post.
