Lora Bex Lempert, professor emerita of Sociology and Women's and Gender Studies at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, delivers a talk entitled "Eating the life sentence elephant : one bite at a time." Lempert describes her research into how women, incarcerated for life in Michigan prisons, cope pragmatically and creatively with their sentences by constructing meaningful lives inside prison. She answers questions from the audience.
