Diploma, printed on heavy paper and mounted on linen, from the Detroit Public High School. The text of the diploma reads as follows: "On behalf of The Board of Education of the City of Detroit And of the Teachers of the Detroit Public High School We the undersigned, Certify that Bessie Margaret Curtiss has satisfactorily completed the Latin Course of Study prescribed for said School, and having uniformly sustained a good character for conduct as well as for Scholarship, is hereby honorably graduated from the same. In Testimony whereof we have subscribed our names and caused the Seal of the Board of Education to be affixed hereunto on this Twenty Ninth, day of January A.D. 1890." The gold seal of the City of Detroit Board of Education is affixed to the bottom left. To the right of the seal are signatures from John R. King, the Secretary of the Board of Education, William Voigt Jr., the President of the Board of Education, W.E. Robinson, the Superintendent of Public Schools, and F.L. Bliss, the Principal of the High School.
