A mounted, sepia-toned photographic print of a horse drawn fire engine (sans horses), presumably manufactured by Lee and Larned of New York, taken in front of a firehouse with a small crowd of onlookers. "First Steam Fire Engine made by Lee & Las'ned (sic) New York, Exhibited in Detroit - 1859" handwritten on top of matting. A red bordered sticker, likely a price tag, with the number 20 is adhered to the upper right corner of the image. A partial piece of paper with a letter head from the Office of the Supply Agent of the Fire Commission of Detroit is pasted onto the verso. Handwritten there in pencil is the following, "first steam fire engine made by Lee & Las'men (sic) New York exhibited in Detroit 1859. Photograph presented by B. E. Marvin, Green Bay Wis. November 1895."
