Notes:

Exterior of the the building at 61 Commerce Avenue SW, housing the Foster Stevens wholesale hardware company, founded in 1837. A "For Sale" sign is in the window, "five floors, basement, 30,000 sq. ft., sprinklers." Also visible: Ter Molen and Hart, sheet metal workers, at 59 Commerce SW, Their advertisement in the 1941 Grand Rapids City Directory says that they are "successors to the Foster Stevens Tinshop." To the south at 67 Commerce SW is the American Sign company, Menno Kooistra and Fred Rohring, sign painters.
