The view looks northwestward (upstream) along the Rouge River and shows the old railroad swing bridge on the left (in open position) as well as the new single leaf Strauss trunnion bascule bridge on the right. The lift span portion of the new bridge is raised. The wooden formwork for one of the concrete counterweights can be seen just above the ground surface. A small portion of the new 2-story brick building for the bridge operator can be seen on the far right side of the photo.
