Blank lines have been completed in handwritten black text. The text indicated that the parties of the first part were leasing rooms in a building located at 183 Jefferson Avenue, to the parties of the second part for two years for a total amount of $400.00. All parties have signed their names at the end of the lease agreement in the presence of two witnesses, "N. North Nay" and "Ignatz Freund."

C----" [both illegible]. An embossed "Seal of the Circuit Court of Wayne County, Michigan," is located near the lower left corner of the page.

Richmond of Detroit, parties of the second part. The agreement is printed in black text on white paper with blank lines that have been completed in handwritten black text. The text indicated that Peter Desnoyers was leasing rooms in a building located at 185 Jefferson Avenue to the parties of the second part for four years for a total amount of $2400.00. All parties have signed their names at the end of the lease agreement in the presence of two witnesses, "Harmon DeGraff" and "N. M. Macalister." Two U.S. Internal Revenue stamps have been affixed to the agreement form in the upper left corner in the amounts of five dollars and one dollar. Both stamps feature a red and white engraved design with a bust of George Washington at the center.

- One agreement, dated March 1, 1865, made between Arouet Richmond, Frederick H. A. Backus, and Benjamin Barton Richmond of Detroit. The agreement is handwritten in black ink on both sides of a sheet of white linen paper that has light blue lines. It contains seven sections and indicates that the "Parties do hereby agree to enter into a copartnership under the name and firm of Richmond & Backus to carry on a business as book sellers and book binders in all its various branches in the City of Detroit ..... for a period of (5) five years consecutively from the date these presents." The three parties have signed their names at the end of the agreement in the presence of two witnesses, "James Moreton" and "N. M. Macalister."

The text indicated that Peter Desnoyers was leasing rooms in a building located at 185 Jefferson Avenue, to the parties of the second part for five years for a total amount of $2800.00. All parties have signed their names at the end of the lease agreement in the presence of two witnesses, "Chas. N. Ayres" and "Chas. E. Safford." Four U.S. Internal Revenue stamps have been affixed to the front page of the agreement form along the left edge in the amounts of two dollars, one dollar, one dollar, and two dollars. The three upper stamps feature a red and white engraved design with a bust of George Washington at the center. The lower stamp has a green and white engraved design with a bust of George Washington at the center.
