- Mounted, sepia-toned photographic print entitled, "Old City Hall, A.D. 1868." Detroit's City Hall which stood at Campus Martius, on Michigan Grand Avenue (now Cadillac Square) is depicted as viewed from Campus Martius facing southeast. Several people stand in front of the building, while several other people sit in the shade on the building's north side. Stalls used for the Central or City Hall Market are visible behind the building. In the background, along Michigan Grand, signs are posted for U.S. Tobacco Works, R.G. Tyler Teas, National Bitter, H.H. Wallace, Ira Shade, Hiram Stanskil, and S.H. Davis and Company. The photo has a rounded top and is mounted to a piece of yellowed cardstock bearing the title and "J. Watson, Artist, Detroit" below.

- Black and white copy of a photograph on photographic paper depicting the Detroit Tribune Building at 42 Larned Street, following the fire there on April, 13, 1873. Its roof and a portion of the wall along the two upper floors are destroyed. Several beams are propped up to support its walls from the roof of the adjacent Livery, where several people stand. Another group of people is gathered outside the door of the Livery. Signs are posted for the Office of the Commercial Advertiser and the William Johns Jr. Law Office. To the left of the Tribune is the Tontine Coffee House. McGonegal's Wood Yard is in the foreground on the opposite side of the street from the Tribune. A church steeple, identified as that of St. Paul's Protestant Episcopal Church on the photo's verso, rises behind the ruins of the Tribune Building.

- Mounted, sepia-toned photographic print depicting the Smart Block on the southeast corner of Woodward Avenue and Jefferson Avenue, taken from an elevated position on the opposite corner. The storefronts along this corner include, Yates Clothing, the Boston Shoe Store, A. Amberg and Company, Campbell and Linn Dry Goods, and another clothing store. The structure to the right of Campbell and Linn appears to either have been partially demolished or be under construction. The Franklin House and a pair of church steeples of St. Anne's Church are in the background. It is printed on art paper and is framed in an off-white cardstock frame. Handwritten note on verso of copy notes, "c.1855-57 ([Silas] Farmer says block torn down 1857," referring to the author of the 1884 book The History of Detroit and Michigan. Matting is yellowed cardstock. First copy is cropped closer at the left and bottom, but high at the top. Second copy is black and white.

- Black and white photographic print depicting several buildings along the north side of Cadillac Square, as well as the Wayne County Building in the distance. Taken near Bates Street on the opposite end of Cadillac Square, facing northeast. The Burns Motel, a cafe, the Garland, Schroeder Paint and Glass Company, and Hotel Wobrock are along the businesses along Cadillac Square. Pedestrians, several brass-era automobiles, and electric streetcars are in the street. The photo appears to have been produced from an earlier photo as its rough edges are in frame. "37 North side Cadillac Square second block from Woodward looking east April 29,1910" handwritten on verso. "Burton Historical Collection, Glass Negative 2766" on verso.

- Sepia-toned photographic print with a black margin on its left edge printed with "Kresge Bldg. 1-20-15." The photo was taken from an elevated position possibly from the David Whitney Building facing northeast. The upper floors of the Kresge Building are in the center of the frame. The Hotel Fuller is in the foreground at the lower left. The Hotel Charlevoix is right of the Kresge Building. Beyond smaller buildings are visible all the way to the horizon.

- Black and white photo of City Hall and the Majestic Building as taken from a window of the Russell House to the southeast. Woodmere, Brush, and Woodward line streetcars are in Campus Martius, including cars 386 and 290. A horse-drawn cart carrying several large potted ferns is on Ford Street beside City Hall's lawn. Several horse-drawn carriages are on Woodward in front of City Hall. A man in a white suit picks up horse droppings in the intersection of Woodward and Ford using a large scoop and a shovel. A moonlight tower stands on the south corner of Woodward and Michigan Avenue. Signs for C.A. Shafer are posted on the side of the Majestic Building. A mimeographed caption is on the verso, along with an impression of a photo of William C. Maybury: This picture was taken in the central business portion of the city of Detroit from a window of a hotel known as the Russell House.. The hotel is situated on the South East corner of Woodward Avenue and Cadillac Square. The photograph is made from a negative taken in the fall of 1900 and is a fairly good representation of exterior photography, at this date. The photograph was made by C.M. Hayes and Co., a firm engaged in general photography.

Pedestrians are visible on the sidewalk and in the avenue, and a man sweeps in the street. Horse carriages are also visible. Many businesses are adjacent to Woodward Avenue including Farrells Furs, Chas. Trickery Grocery, O'Neill Hoffner Washington Market, La Childs Restaurant, and in the distance is the Elliott Taylor Woolfenden Company. Written on the verso: "Woodward, west side from Columbia, to Montcalm looking North, May 1910."

Several businesses are adjacent to Monroe, those visible include, Juzek Brothers Tailors, Cosmopolitan Restaurant, Nederlander's Loan Office, Detroit Printing Stationery Company, Menter and Rosenbloom Clothing Company, Erlenbach's Millinery, Chop Suey, and the Hotel Ste. Several spectators are gathered around the fountain. The Cadillac Hotel is on the right. St. Aloysius Catholic Church is visible beyond the fountain, and the David Whitney Building is in the distance at the left.

The men hold tambourines and stand beside a small cart bearing a sign that reads, "Help the Striking Street Car Men of Boston, Mass." Several other people stand nearby including a boy who appears to be selling newspapers. H.D. Edwards and Company stands in the background.
