- Mounted, sepia-toned photographic print depicting the construction of the Central Market Building in Campus Martius on Michigan Grand Avenue or Cadillac Square. Before it stands the Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, missing the eagle statues on its lowest pedestals. To the left of the Central Market building is McLennan and Company Dry Goods. On the opposite side is the Russell House, which also houses M. Horowitz and Company Crockery, and the Russell House Bazaar. A business advertising "wholesale liquors," is visible further down Cadillac. The photo is mounted on beige cardstock and has "1880" written on the verso.

- Black and white print negative depicting the exterior of Buhl, Sons, and Company Hardware, Iron, and Nails, which is a large four story building located on the south side of Woodbridge Street, west of Wayne Street. A cigar store Indian stands at the lower left corner of the image. Verso also notes that this was taken in 1881 and was originally sepia. Border of mounting from the original photo this was reproduced from has been captured as well.

- Sepia-toned photo of the Carkeek Printing Company building taken from a ship docked at the Nicholson-Universal Steamship Company docks at the foot of First Street. A group of men stand along the riverfront outside of the company's garage. A woman stands behind a large upright wooden barrier to which two posters have been hung at the foot of the dock, while two other woman stand on the dock at the lower portion of the frame. The Standart Brothers Hardware Corporation building stands in the background. "Detroit dock 1923," is handwritten in the bottom border.

- Sepia-toned photograph of City Hall, as taken from the center of Campus Martius, decorated with American flags and patriotic banners, as well as a sign that reads, "Welcome Admiral and Mrs. Dewey," to greet the visiting Spanish-American War hero George Dewey. An elevated seating box is set up on the sidewalk in front of City Hall. Pedestrians and horse-drawn carts are in the streets. A moonlight tower stands along the right edge of the frame.

- Cabinet card bearing a circular sepia-toned image of L.L. Farnsworth's shoe store on the corner of Woodward Avenue and Michigan Avenue as taken from the south. A sign posted on the southern face of the building advertises, "boots, shoes, and rubbers." Signs for Marratt's photo studio, and J.L. Hudson's clothing visible on the sides of their respective buildings in the background. Streetcar tracks run along Michigan in the foreground, and numerous pedestrians are in view. The card has a burgundy border with a gold edge. A Kodak mark and a floral pattern are printed on the verso of the card.

- One print entitled "The Commercial Center of Detroit, Michigan - 1907." The print shows a large oval-shaped, bird's-eye view that looks northwestward across downtown Detroit and the waterfront. Major roads and buildings are visible. Various cargo and passenger steamships can be seen in the foreground on the Detroit River. Small printed text along the lower left edge of the oval shows "Copyrighted by Hurd Wheeler Co., Detroit, Mich., 1907." Printed text in the lower left and right corners of the sheet show statistical information concerning the rapid growth of population, homes, building permits, manufacturing, and other economic measures.

- One open page of a newspaper showing a picture collage entitled "Views In The City of Detroit." The open page shows engraved drawings that are printed in black ink on slightly yellowed newspaper. The drawings are printed across two pages of the September 9, 1878, issue of "The Daily Graphic" newspaper of New York. The eighteen drawings show various downtown streets, businesses, churches, public buildings, and the Detroit Riverfront. A numbered index along the bottom of the page identifies all of the drawings.
