- Dr. Robert F. Banks, associate provost and associate vice president for academic human resources, and professor emeritus of the James Madison College at Michigan State University, talks about his childhood in northern New Jersey, his education, becoming interested in labor studies, working with union training programs while in school in England, and earning a doctorate from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Banks talks about labor issues of the day, the abilities of the union members with whom he worked, and the political climate in Britain. He describes how he came to meet his wife then talks extensively about labor issues and the role he played in Britain and the U.S., discusses the general labor movement, then covers a number of researchers and authors. John Revitte explains the information he would like to obtain from Banks at future interviews including the history of the Faculty Grievance Office at MSU, Banks' association with the School of Labor and Industrial Relations at MSU, and issues around unionization at the University, and the office of Ombudsman for faculty and students. - Ken Germanson, Allied Industrial Workers international union staff member, AIW newspaper editor, and president of the Wisconsin Labor History Society (WLHS), talks with Michigan State University Labor and Industrial Relations Professor Emeritus John Revitte via telephone. They discuss pending labor conferences at which they they hope to present, the founding of WLHS, AIW members and leaders they know and the varied attitudes among workers about unions. They also talk about the division among labor activists and anti-war activists in the late 1960s and early 70s and how that played to management's advantage, early socialists and how some of them were racist while others were pro-civil rights and other possible topics they might discuss in the future, including health and safety, collective bargaining, pensions and plant closings.

- Jack Stieber, former director of Michigan State University's School of Labor and Industrial Relations, reminisces about his childhood and youth, early employment, how he became interested in labor issues, and the history of the MSU labor school. He discusses his military service in World War Two, his graduate studies at the University of Minnesota and Harvard, coming to MSU, and later becoming director of the new School of Labor and Industrial Relations. Stieber also comments on the operations and structure of the labor school, its funding, the pros and cons of hiring faculty without doctorates, faculty personalities, and his own areas of research. Ends abruptly. Stieber is interviewed by MSU professor of labor and industrial relations, John Revitte.

- In an oral history interview, Don Stevens, former Michigan State University trustee and AFL-CIO board member, talks about conflicts within the leadership of the state AFL-CIO, how he came to head the state CIO Education Department, and visiting Europe in order to help unions in postwar Europe reestablish themselves. Stevens describes efforts to influence elections, endorsing John Swainson for Governor, and tax issues involving Detroit which cost Swainson reelection. He also talks about the creation of the labor center at MSU, the start of Oakland University as a separate institution during his time as an MSU trustee, and John Hannah's presidency of MSU. He closes by considering what that the labor movement in Michigan has accomplished, what it has meant to him, and the threats it is under. Stevens is interviewed by John Revitte, MSU professor of Labor and Industrial Relations. Part four of four.

He says that the UAW camp's main purpose was to build skills and to train workers to help bring change in society and increase employment benefits. Repas says that the establishment of worker education programs in Michigan was led by MSU President John Hannah who was motivated by a desire to "one up" the University of Michigan and curry favor with the labor unions who had significant influence in Lansing. He describes the early days of the Labor and Industrial Relations Center at MSU, the people who ran it, and programs it conducted around the state. He also explains his perspective on how labor schools should function and the relationship they should have with unions and businesses. Repas is interviewed by John Revitte, MSU professor of Labor and Industrial Relations.
