1. Chart of Detroit River

Description:
One navigational chart entitled, "Chart of Detroit River" that was compiled and published as part of the Survey of the Northern and Northwestern Lakes (War Department, Corps of Engineers). It was "Projected from a Trigonometrical Survey executed under the orders of Major C. B. Comstock, Corps of Engineers." The chart is drawn at a scale of 1:40,000 and shows the Detroit River from Wind Mill Point at the lower end of Lake St. Clair down to Pointe Mouillée at the lower end of the river. Land areas are shaded in pale yellow. River/lake areas are shown in white and pale green. Distances are given in statute miles. Soundings for lake depths are given in feet. Lines of latitude and longitude are shown in black. Lighthouses and buoys are also noted. An inset chart on the lower right side provides additional details of the ship channel in the vicinity of Amherstberg and the mouth of the Detroit River.

Monochromatic glass plate negative taken of the remains of the original Belle Isle Bridge after it burned on April 27, 1915, as viewed from Belle Isle to the west of the bridge, facing northeast. Two spans of the bridge remain standing on the right edge of the frame. One of the bridge's piers stands in the river on the left. Several passenger ferries, canoes, and sailboats are on the river. The Detroit Boat Club stands on the shore on the right, and the Conners Creek Electric Power Plant is under construction in the background.

Description:
Monochromatic glass plate negative taken of the remains of the original Belle Isle Bridge after it burned on April 27, 1915, as viewed from Belle Isle to the west of the bridge, facing the mainland. Four of the bridges piers are visible along the river, no longer bearing the bridge. Closer to the shore, part of one of the spans has collapsed into the water. In the background, along the riverfront, the roller coasters and pavilions of Electric Park, are visible, as is the Philip Kling Brewing Company, and a sign for Stegmeyer's ferry.

Description:
Black and white panoramic photo of a rowing scull race on the Detroit River as viewed from the Belle Isle Bridge near the Detroit Boat Club. The Boat Club is visible in the background. Many spectators can be seen on the bridge, in various large and small boats adjacent to the course, and on the shore. The photo is mounted under glass in a 1" wide wood frame that has been painted black. The paper backing of the framed photo is torn. A label is glued to the back of the frame which notes, "HA 9-5779, Cave's Mirror and Glass Shop, Picture Framing, Fine Prints, Mirrors, Glass Furniture Tops; 3 King's Highway East, Haddonfield, N.J." On one side of the paper backing, the year, "1909," is written in black ink.
