The electric sign on top of building is one of the finest in the west and when in action gives a description of the famous Chariot Race of Ben Hur. Printed on verso: Hotel Pontchartrain, Detroit, Michigan. The Hotel Pontchartrain. Detroit's largest and best hotel, is beautifully situated on the Campus. It is fifteen stories high with three stories underground. This hotel was opened to the public in October 1907 and is strictly fireproof. It is a marvel of convenience, the underground portion being the most important for the comfort of the guests. Over five million pounds of steel were used in its construction. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Jun 9, 1913.
