- Map titled "North American Sheet IV Lake Superior Reduced from the Admiralty Survey," Published by the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge. Drawn by J & C Walker. Published Nov. 1, 1832 by Baldwin & Cradock, 47 Paternoster Row, London. The map features Lake Superior in the center, with "Upper Canada," outlined in purple, to the north, and "Chippewa," outlined in green, to the south. The perimeter of the map contains lines of latitude and longitude. The scale used for distance is located on the outside of the map's right border.

- One map entitled "D.M. & M.R.R. [Detroit, Mackinac & Marquette Railroad] Land Plan, Part of Private Claims at St. Ignace." The map consists of red, blue, and black ink on linen and shows the property lines, parcel numbers, and names of property owners along a section of shoreline on East Moran Bay at St. Ignace, Michigan. Property being acquired by the railroad or the state for right-of-way purposes is tinted in yellow, red, and blue according to a corresponding legend. The map is drawn at a scale of 1 inch = 50 feet. A handwritten note in the lower left corner shows "D.M.M.R.R. Engineers Office, St. Ignace, March 3d of 87 [1887], J. H. Orvis, Eng."

- One map entitled, "Map of the State of Michigan, Engraved and Printed Under the Supervision of the Commissioner of Railroads of the State." The map is printed in colored ink with black text on a white background and shows cities, counties, townships, railroad lines, railway stations, and county population statistics as January 1, 1892. The map was published by George F. Cram of Chicago and was approved by Charles R. Whitman, Commissioner of Railroads. Counties and railroad lines are also shown for eastern Wisconsin.

- One map entitled "City of Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan, 1853." The map is drawn at an approximate scale of 1 inch = 510 feet. The area of coverage extends from the Canadian shoreline of the Detroit River northward about 6 miles and from Eighth Street on the west to just past St. Aubin Street on the east. The map is printed in black text on darkened paper that has a slightly glossy varnish or lacquer finish. Park areas are tinted green and water areas are tinted blue. The map shows street names, buildings, houses, railroad lines, lot numbers, ward numbers, and farm names. Acreages are also shown for larger parcels that are located north of the Grand Circus Park area. A column of printed text down the left side of the map shows name and address listings for Churches, Public Buildings, Banks & Exchange Offices, Telegraph Offices, Newspaper Offices, and Hotels. Printed text beneath the map title shows "Surveyed & published by Henry Hart, Civil Engineer & Architect, 140 Pearl St., N.Y."

- Description:
- One printed map sheet from the "Plan of Private Claims in Michigan Territory as Surveyed by Aaron Greeley in 1810." The map is printed in black ink on white paper and covers the southern portion of the Detroit River region along the west shore of Lake Erie including the "Riviere aux Raisins [River Raisin]", "Riviere au Loutre [Otter Creek]," the "River Huron of Erie," and several other smaller streams and creeks. The southern end of Grosse Isle at the lower end of the Detroit River is also included on this sheet. The map shows the numbers and locations of various ribbon farms (private claims) in the region. Corresponding tables list the name of each property owner, the claim number, and acreage. Boundary lines for townships are also shown along with the corresponding township and range numbers. These numbers extend from T.9.S. [Township 9 South]" up to "T.4.S [Township 4 South]" and from "R.VII.E [Range 7 East]" to "R.X.E [Range 10 East]." A large north arrow is shown in the upper left area of the sheet along with a note concerning magnetic variation. A small inset map of the Huron River is shown in the top center area at a scale of 1 inch = 4 miles. The northern portion of the Detroit River region is covered on a second sheet that was not part of this accession.

Printed by Russell, Penge. The left half of the map shows the North West Territory, outlined in blue, while the right half of the map shows the Michigan Territory, outlined in yellow, with the Michigan Territory subdivided by counties, which are also outlined in yellow. Also featured are the northernmost portions of Illinois, outlined in purple, and Indiana, outlined in green. The perimeter of the map indicates lines of latitude and longitude. The scale used for distance is located on the right side of the sheet, outside of the map's border.

- One map entitled "The Industrial Map of Detroit - Showing Its Manufacturing, Mercantile and Railroad Interests with Shipping Facilities." It has a copyright date of 1904 and was published by Silas Farmer & Co. of Detroit. The map is mostly printed in black text with black and grey line work on white paper that has been bonded to a canvas backing. Various colored lines are used to mark city boundaries, railroads, and rivers. An alphabetical listing of manufactories with location coordinates is shown across the bottom of the map. A red stamp on the verso at one of the lower corners shows "D. P. Dossin, 275 LaSalle Place, Grosse Pointe, Mich. 48236."

- One Canadian topographic survey map entitled "Ontario, Sault Ste. Marie Sheet - Portions of Algoma, Sudbury, and Manitoulin Districts." The map area includes the Ontario shoreline region in the vicinity of Sault Ste. Marie and the St. Mary's River. The adjacent Michigan shoreline is also shown. The map was prepared by the Department of the Interior, Canada, at a scale of 1:250,000 and is dated 1912. The map includes details such as lakes, rivers, cities, towns, roads, railroads, Indian reservations, and some elevations as well as township names, township boundaries, concession and section numbers. Water areas are shaded pale green and land areas are white with pale red lines along the Lake Superior, St. Mary's River, and Lake Huron shorelines.
