- Firemen's Fund Association membership certificate, printed by the Detroit Lithographic Office, and issued to Mark A. Gascoigne on Feburary 23, 1867. The document bears the signatures of President John Hyland, Treasurer James A. Elliott, and Secretary John Kendall, beside a green adhesive embossed Firemen's Fund Association seal. Illustrations of a firefighter speaking into a bugle, as two other firefighters hold a hose, as well as of a team of firefighters riding in an early self-propelled steam-driven fire engine are on the left side of the certificate. The certificate is mounted on linen.

- One business card. The card is printed in black and red ink on heavy pale yellow paper that shows "Elliott & Brother, Elliotts' Cloth House, No. 128 Woodward Avenue, Detroit." The owners' names, "Richard R. Elliott" and "James R. Elliott," are shown in the lower left corner of the card. Printed text on the verso shows "Foreign Passage and Exchange Office of Richard R. Elliott, 128 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, Mich." and "Established in Detroit, September, 1841." This card was contained in the lead box time capsule that was removed from the Old City Hall on May 25, 1961.

- Resolution printed on a large piece of cardstock, from the Board of Trustees honoring James R. Elliott upon his retirement. The document has an ornate header consisting of the letters "FFA," surrounded by vines, and a firefighter's bugle. The resolution reads: Detroit, Mich. May 1st 1896. At a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Detroit Firemen's Fund Association, held April 9th 1896, the retiring board adopted the following set of resolutions. Whereas, James R. Elliott has been an active member of this Board since its inception and taken great interest in the affairs of the Firemen's Fund Association and Whereas, we the members of the Board desire to show our appreciation to him for the conspicuous service has so freely rendered, and Whereas, the preservation of this Organization has been largely due to the wise methods he has inaugurated. Be it therefore resolved, that we the members of the retiring Board extend to our retiring Treasurer, James R. Elliott, our sincerest thanks and heartiest commendation for his invaluable services, and Be it further resolved, that this set of Resolutions be engrossed suitably framed, and presented to Chief James R.
