- Description:
- Note, printed in black on white backing, "Introducing the Interrupters." This note accompanied product models for Packard Single-Six automobiles, and describes their purpose and use by Packard dealers. The note's text is as follows: "Introducing the Interrupters The hard part about selling any commodity is to secure immediate interest-therefore, the Interrupters. They positively interrupt a prospect's thoughts and direct them to the Single-Six. They were designed principally for use on bad-weather days; on the days when extra effort must be used to create desire. Operation:- One smile, one 'Good Morning,' then quickly stand the four models in a semi-circle in front of your prospect. After you do this, keep quiet. Take your lead from him. The chances are ten to one that the model he picks up is the type of car he is interested in. Always talk about the part he is looking at. Follow the prospect's interest. Finish by giving a real demonstration of securing an appointment for one. Note: If the prospect has children he will probably insist upon keeping the Interrupters. In order not to offend and to make positive another appointment, say something like this: 'Unfortunately, we are supplied with only one set for each of the salesmen. Therefore you can appreciate that loaning them would seriously handicap me. So, under the circumstances, I cannot give you a set as much as I would like to. You can, however, keep them for a day or two, as probably you wish to show them to others. Today is Monday - Will I call for them Wednesday morning?' Just one thing more - the Interrupters are not toys. Do not use them as such. Packard Motor Car Co. H.T. Gardner Carriage Sales Manager"
