- View of an early snowmobile on Reed's Lake in East Grand Rapids. Four young men from Grand Rapids built the "snow sedan" or "aerosled." The machine was built by Alex, Walter and George Adastick and Joe Svoboda. It was powered by a four-cylinder automobile motor equipped with a two-bladed propeller. The body was made of aircraft plywood and seated persons. It ran on three runners, or skis, each about six feet long.
