The prisoners have formed a string orchestra consisting of violins, cellos, and an organ and their music sits on metal music stands. - French prisoners sing a song outdoors in the prison compound in Zossen under the direction of a choir director. German NCO's and officers stand in the background next to the barrack. The choir leader has set up his stand on top of a narrow gauge railway line. Due to the size of the camp, the Germans used a small railway line system to transport supplies to the camp.

- The German authorities permitted this French sculptor to continue his trade in prison at Zossen. He was assigned his own workshop and is working on a monument. This workshop also served as a dining room and a place to sleep (note the pile of mattresses on the floor to the left). The prisoners are very comfortable as one reads a newspaper, another smokes, and two others sit down to a meal.

- Indian troops sit at a table enjoying a game of cards at Muenster II. German officials emphasized the importance of colonial troops for the Allied cause through a propaganda campaign which underlined Germany's struggle against most of the world.

- French-speaking Belgian prisoners of war lived in this barrack at Goettingen. The Walloons' facilities were comfortable; they had access to desks and a large collection of books. Their walls are decorated with a number of pictures. Goettingen was a propaganda camp for Belgian POW's, who received special privileges during their incarceration.

- Social workers and neutral inspectors often visited prison camps to meet prisoners. In this wood block print, a social worker, probably a YMCA secretary, distributes books to French and Russian prisoners of war at Muensingen. Books were important for entertainment to help POW's pass their time and to support education programs.

- This was the interior of an enlisted men's barrack for French prisoners of war in the prison camp at Goettingen. While the prisoners did have some belongings, which are stacked on the shelves behind the POW's, the conditions were very cramped in this barrack. There is room, however, for a piano against the back wall which one of the soldiers is playing.

- French prisoners relax in their barrack at Darmstadt as they enjoy some free time. Many of their belongings hang from the shelf behind them (including clothing and dinner bowls) or on the shelf and rafters (clothing, boots, and food). One prisoner holds a model airplane in his hand while another plane hangs from the ceiling.
