1. Sculptor Shop at Zossen

Notes:
As a propaganda camp, prisoners had access to a wide range of activities at Zossen. The Germans have provided these French prisoners with a studio to work on sculptures. There is a base relief on the floor to the right, a small statue of a French soldier sitting, and a large monument on the small table to the right.

2. Catholic Altar in the Prison Camp at Koenigstein

Notes:
The Catholic prisoners at Koenigstein also enjoyed a very ornate chapel for worship services. The altar features a painting of Christ above it with a communion rail at the base of the altar. The chapel features a chandelier, an eternal flame, two statues, pews, and two large ovens for heat in the winter.

3. French POWs Work on a Sculpture in a German Prison Camp

Notes:
A French sculptor works on a memorial in a work shop in a German prison camp. This monument will probably be erected in the prison camp's cemetery to commemorate the POW's who died in captivity. Other prisoners in the shop fill their time reading a newspaper or eating a meal at the table on the right.

4. Sand Mosiac of an Uhlan at Koenigsbrueck

Notes:
Russian prisoners created this sand and cement mosiac of a Kazak Uhlan in 1915. Outdoor art work was a very popular pastime in Koenigsbrueck. Russian and French prisoners flank the work, admiring the detailed craftsmanship.

5. Constructing Memorials at Guestrow

Notes:
A French sculptor works in his workshop at Guestrow on a statue which will be part of a POW memorial in the prison camp cemetery. There are three other statues under construction which will commemorate fallen comrades from the prison.

6. French Sculptor at Work in Zossen

Notes:
The German authorities permitted this French sculptor to continue his trade in prison at Zossen. He was assigned his own workshop and is working on a monument. This workshop also served as a dining room and a place to sleep (note the pile of mattresses on the floor to the left). The prisoners are very comfortable as one reads a newspaper, another smokes, and two others sit down to a meal.

7. French Marianne Sand Mosiac at Koenigsbrueck

Notes:
French prisoners work on a sand and cement mosaic of Marianne, the symbol of the French republic at the prison camp at Koenigsbrueck. This type of outdoor art work was very popular in the camp. Russian and French prisoners stand around the mosaic for the photograph.
