"Retired Chief Martin Cooney, Supt. of Horses," is handwritten in blue ink along the top edge of the invite.

- Invitation to the Independence Ball held July 4, 1831 at Woodworth's Hotel, addressed to Mary Catherine Brevoort, and dated July 1, 1831. "Mrs. Brevoort" is handwritten beneath a lithographic print of an eagle holding an "e pluribus unum," banner in its beak. "Mrs. Brevoort is again handwritten on the verso, so that her name would be displayed on top when the sheet was folded in thirds. A.S. Porter, J. Winder, I.S. Rowland, and M.F. Abbott are listed as the hotel's managers.

- Invitation to the Sixth Annual Ball of Lafayette Fire Company No. 4 at Firemen's Hall on Thursday, January 5, 1854. The invitation contains the motto, "At danger's call we're prompt to fly, and bravely do, or bravely die." at the top, as well as an illustration of an early fire apparatus, a list of honorary members, and a list of members of the company. The invitation is mounted on another piece of paper, with faint sets of numbers handwritten on the verso in pencil, with the name, "R.S. Stuart."
