- On the eve of the U.S. midterm elections, U.S. President Donald Trump campaigns for U.S. Senate candidate Josh Hawley (R-MO) in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Radio personality Rush Limbaugh introduces Trump. Trump is joined on stage by FOX News personalities Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro. Trump recounts his electoral victory in 2016, criticizes the media and declares that a Democratic takeover of the House will result in a roll-back of administration gains. He also talks about trade, tariffs, the economy, jobs, immigration and a border wall. Candidate Hawley credits Trump with cutting regulations and lowering taxes.

- Michigan State University Professor of Music Harlan Jennings delivers a talk at the MSU Main Library entitled, "Her Majesty's Opera Company in Kansas City". Jennings describes the nineteenth century cross country tours of British impresario James Henry Mapleson and Henry Abbey's Metropolitan Opera, as they compete for crowds, popularity and operatic supremacy in the heartland of the United States. A question and answer session follows. MSU Music Librarian Mary Black Junttonen introduces Jennings. Part of the MSU Libraries' Colloquia Series.

- James Earl Ray, convicted for the assassination of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., testifies before the House Select Committee on Assassinations on the second of three days of hearings. Mark Lane, Ray's attorney, accuses the committee of switching documents. G. Robert Blakey comments on the delivery of paperwork to Mark Lane on the previous day. Louis Stokes (D-OH), Chairman of the Committee, questions Ray about the second rifle Ray purchased. Ray discusses his various aliases and says he knew almost nothing about King and that he was unaware King was staying in Camden. Stokes questions Ray on his location at the time of King's murder. Stokes reads from Memphis newspapers telling of King's intended itinerary and Ray claims to have been unaware of the papers' contents. Ray answers questions from Floyd Fithian (D-IN), about Ray's escape from the Missouri prison and his flight to Canada. Technical interruption of the broadcast signal at 4:34:38 until 4:35:14.

- Historian, writer and performer Dennis Stroughmatt tells the story of the French Creoles who settled the Illinois country over three hundred years ago. In his talk, "French Creole Music and Language from the Missouri Mines, 1723-2008", Stroughmatt mixes fiddle music, singing and story telling to demonstrate the French Creole dialect of the Mississippi and Wabash river corridors. He tells the history of the people and their culture and explains the connection Michigan had as a corridor through which trappers, settlers, and commerce passed, carrying French influence to the interior of North America. Includes a question and answer session. Stroughmatt is introduced by Michigan State University Profeffor John P. Beck. Part of the Michigan State University Libraries' Colloquia Series. Co-sponsored by the "Our Daily Work/Our Daily Lives" Brown Bag series presented by the MSU School of Human Resources and Labor Relations. Held at the MSU Main Library.
