- Photo taken for the Ben Dean Advertising Co, located at the Houseman Building on the northeast corner of Pearl and Ottawa. The photo is taken at the Walter C. Hess home, 2016 Melita NE. The Magic Chef kitchen stove is the only appliance appearing in this picture. The wall on the right shows a closed door and a thermometer. On the wall behind the stove hangs a doily, a clock, and a kitchen match holder. On the stove is another clock or timer and salt and pepper shakers. Two closed doors are on either side of the stove. The floor appears to be checkered limoleum.

The woman in the picture is identified as Mrs. Skiff, likely Ione Skiff, the only Skiffs in the 1938 Grand Rapids City Directory. Photo shows the refrigerator and stove, a metal top table, bowls and pans, a bread box.
