- This insignia was worn by Polish Legionaires, incarcerated by the Hungarians in Marmosa-Sziget. The insignia includes the Polish eagle, with an iron cross shield which shows the date of the establishment of the Polish republic and the letters PL (Polish Legion).

- Russian prisoners assemble in the snow in the prison compound at Wieselburg for Christmas celebrations in January 1918. Secretary John Klanmann, a Swedish YMCA worker, addresses the prisoners from the platform in front of a decorated Christmas tree. Prisoners carry a cross and religious banners and the POW band stands to the left of the platform.

- In this primitive drawing, probably produced by a POW, three badly wounded prisoners on crutches walk past some of the barracks at Mauthausen. They are in the process of recovering from their wounds.

- Exterior view of the disinfection station of an unidentified Austrian prison camp. Allied POW's reported to this station when arriving at a prison camp. Austrian doctors identified sick prisoners for quarantine and disinfected healthy POW's to prevent the outbreak of epidemics within the prison camps. Prisoners' uniforms were disinfected and the men subjected to baths, showers, hair cuts, and delousing.

- This photograph portrays a group of British children and their teachers at the civilian internment camp at Raabs. Most of these children spent the preponderance of their young lives in Austrian captivity.

- After crossing a railroad bridge from Serbia, the Austrians load these Serbian prisoners of war on to a ferry for transport to an Austro-Hungarian prison camp. In addition to the POW's, the ferry carries rails and wooden ties for railroad bed construction.

- A group of twelve Polish officers relax in their relatively large prison cell (number 10) at Marmosa-Sziget. They are eating their meals of soup in their room. The cell appears to be well provisioned with tables, chairs, and shelves full of books.

- Serbian and Russian prisoners assemble in the prison compound at Nagymegyer on their day off. A band, standing to the right at the front of the assembled men, prepares to play. Hungarian officers and NCO's stand in the foreground and one can see the one-story wooden barracks in the background.

- Russian prisoners sit on in one of the classrooms of the YMCA building at Wieselburg with an unidentified YMCA secretary (in civilian clothing) standing in the middle of the room. The photo was taken from the back of the room, which was decorated with garland in the rafters, probably for Christmas celebrations. The classroom is equipped with a large chalkboard and maps. In the insert, another Association secretary stands next to two boys in the prison camp with small chalkboards in their hands. The YMCA took a special interest in protecting and educating these young prisoners.
