- Russian prisoners assemble in the snow in the prison compound at Wieselburg for Christmas celebrations in January 1918. Secretary John Klanmann, a Swedish YMCA worker, addresses the prisoners from the platform in front of a decorated Christmas tree. Prisoners carry a cross and religious banners and the POW band stands to the left of the platform.

Graf von Schwerin, the camp commandant, stands to the left in the white uniform, while Graf von Taube, in charge of administrative affairs, stands in the center. British internees stand behind the officers.

- This is an interesting view of the non-commissioned officers' quarters at Goettingen. Two French prisoners of war at the table play chess. The room is decorated with photographs and pictures, and the occupants have access to a number of books as well.

- Exterior view of the disinfection station of an unidentified Austrian prison camp. Allied POW's reported to this station when arriving at a prison camp. Austrian doctors identified sick prisoners for quarantine and disinfected healthy POW's to prevent the outbreak of epidemics within the prison camps. Prisoners' uniforms were disinfected and the men subjected to baths, showers, hair cuts, and delousing.

- French, Belgian, and Russian prisoners line up outdoors for their allocation of hot soup from the large metal and wooden pots steaming on the ground in the prison compound at Darmstadt. Once the POW's received their rations, they returned to their barracks to eat their meal.

- This camp visitation permit was issued to Archibald C. Harte on April 2, 1915 by the prison commandant at Cassel-Niederzwehren. Harte used these visits to investigate conditions in German prison camps and promote the establishment of a War Prisoners' Aid program for Allied prisoners of war. Harte's diplomacy would eventually pay off as German authorities eventually decided to permit neutral Association secretaries to begin YMCA programs in prison camps.

- French prisoners of war work in the prison laundry at Goettingen. Two prisoners operate a laundry press while the other POW's pull open special drying racks which hang from nails. Clean laundry was an important task in keeping prisoners healthy through the elimination of vermin.

- French and Russian prisoners relax outside their barrack in Koenigsbrueck one afternoon. The men are spending their time reading, playing cards, or engrossed in a chess game under the supervision of two German guards.

- A group of twelve Polish officers relax in their relatively large prison cell (number 10) at Marmosa-Sziget. They are eating their meals of soup in their room. The cell appears to be well provisioned with tables, chairs, and shelves full of books.
