The cover of the invite is printed with a design composed of the entwined letters D,M, and C. along with the passage: Detroit, March 2, 1879 The Faculty of the Detroit Medical College respectfully invite yourself and family to attend their Eleventh Annual Commencement Exercises, to be held at the Opera House (Campus Martius), on the Evening of Tuesday, March 4th, at 8 o'clock precisely. (Over) The Order of Exercises is printed within, including orchestral music, a prayer, the ceremony, an address, and a poem. Both the invitation and envelope bear the imprint of E.B. Smith and Company, Printers.
