- Denbow reflects on his upbringing, studying journalism, a stint in the Army, and his first job at Penn State University. He describes learning the craft of public relations before coming to East Lansing in 1982 and creating a coordinated public relations effort for MSU based upon portraying the university as elite, but not elitist. He describes the many challenges facing MSU as it attempts to stay true to its land grant mission and laments disinvestment in the state college system and suggests that research institutions play critical roles in solving current and future problems.
