- Typewritten letter with envelope sent by George H. Woolley, manager of the Hotel Pontchartrain to William D. Purdy, in gratitude for a gift basket sent in celebration of the hotel's fifth anniversary, dated October 31, 1912. The letter is on Hotel Pontchartrain stationery, and the envelope is printed with an image of the exterior of the hotel, engraved by Gies and Company of Buffalo.

- One postcard addressed in handwritten black ink text to "Miss Madge C. Maybury, 91 Baker Street, Detroit, Mich." The Detroit postmark is dated October 14, 1892. Handwritten text in black ink on the verso shows "Tampa, Oct. 11/'92. Dear Madge, We arrived all safe. We were glad to receive your postal card. Mother's cough is all gone already. Give our love and kind regards to all. From Pa."

- Envelope and invitation to a Thanksgiving dinner written and sent by William Woodbridge to Dr. L. Abbot of Detroit. The invitation is handwritten on the verso of William Woodbridge's calling card. The note reads: Springwells Nov. 23 1852 D-Sir, Will you join us in a family dinner on Thanksgiving Day? We dine at one o clk P.M. Yours Truely Wm. Woodbridge. Doc L. Abbott.

- Hotel Pontchartrain envelope, covered with handwritten notes about William D. Purdy's raises and promotions between 1907 and 1901 while he was employed as the hotel's wine steward, assistant auditor, and storekeeper. The envelope was addressed to William D. Purdy, and postmarked July 29, 1907. The notes read: Wine Steward @ 60 per month with increase accepted Aug 1st 1907 Started to work Oct 1st raised $70 per mo. Aug 1st 1908 Mar 1 to 1909 June 10th assistant auditor @ 70.00 June 10th storekeeper @ 75 Sept 1 1909 @ 80 Apr 1910 - May 90.00 June to 100 Left S.R. 1909 Oct, for[?] auditors office @ 100

- Certificate, mounted on board, naming Ross Wilkins to the position of Trustee of the University of Michigan, signed by Stevens T. Mason on November 25th, 1834. The text of the document is as follows: "Stevens T. Mason, Secretary & at present acting Governor in and over the Territory of Michigan, To all to whom these presents may come, Greeting: Know ye, That reposing special trust and confidence in the integrity and ability of Ross Wilkins I have nominated, and by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council of the said Territory, have appointed him Trustee of the University of Michigan And I do hereby authorize and empower him to execute and fulfill the duties of that office according to law : to have and to hold the said office, with all the rights, privileges, and emoluments thereunto belonging, during the pleasure of the Governor of the said Territory, for the time being. In testimony whereof, I have caused these Letters to be made Patent, and the Great Seal of the said Territory to be hereunto affixed. Given under my Hand, at Detroit, this twenty fifth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty four and of the Independence of the United States of America the fifty ninth. By the Governor: Stevens T. Mason Secretary of Michigan Territory, and at present Acting Governor."

Alger and Annette Alger to attend a reception in celebration of the dedication of the World's Columbian Exposition marking the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' landing in the Americas, held at the Auditorium Chicago on October 19, 1892, "to be tendered to the President, Vice-President, and ex-Presidents of the United States, the Representatives of Foreign Governments, the Governors of the States and Territories and other distinguished guests." The names of George M. Pullman, Marshall Field, Major General Nelson A. Miles, Mayer Hempstead Washburne, and N. K. Fairbank are printed below. A lithograph of Columbus in profile is printed at the top.
