A large image of City Hall is in the center, as viewed from Campus Martius, facing southwest. The McGraw Building behind it is partially visible. Michigan Central Station, identified here as the "M.C.R.R. Union Depot, on the southwest corner of Third Street and West Woodbridge Street is at the upper left in a rectangular frame. Below it, is the Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument in Campus Martius, and the side of the Russell House in the background, framed in a circle. At the upper right, is another rectangular panel, this one depicting the pumping station and tower in Water Works Park. A circle bearing the image of a five story building with a dome-shaped tower, labeled "Y.M.C.A. Building Detroit." "Copyrighted 1887 by Ward Bros. Columbus O." printed in lower right corner.

- Large black and white photographic print depicting City Hall decorated in mourning of President William McKinley following his assassination on September 14, 1901, as viewed from street level in Campus Martius facing west. A large painting of him has been hung above the building's doors, and large dark drapes are hung along the building's front. A horse-drawn carriage, several cyclists, and many pedestrians are in the foreground. Electric streetcar lines are suspended overhead. Peninsular Savings Bank is visible in the background down Fort Street.

- Mounted, sepia-toned photo of the Detroit Opera House following the fire which claimed in on October 7, 1897, as viewed from atop the Second Williams Block, facing northwest. The upper floors of the Opera House have collapsed and rubble fills its lower level, spilling out on the sidewalk. The roof of the building containing Mitchell's Table Supply Company to the right, and, in the background, the south face of the Henry R. Leonard Furniture Company are visibly damaged as well. Barricades have been set up around the buildings' facades, and a large crowd has gathered along them in Campus Martius. Signs for actor Robert B. Mantell's appearance on October 11 are still visible on the building, next door on the Mitchell Table Supply Company building, and even on the barricade. Another sign hung on the Mitchell Table Supply Company reads, "Orders will be filled and patrons taken care of at store cor. of Woodward and State sts. Employees report there." The photo is mounted on grey cardstock. On the verso, the photo was mis-captioned as, "El Paso, Texas, Probably the Meyer Opera House - after fire."

- Colorized halftone print of a photograph depicting the west side of Campus Martius, as viewed from an elevated position, likely from the Pontchartrain Hotel. The primary copy has bolder colors and is mounted on beige cardstock. The secondary copy has lighter colors, and includes the title, "'The Heart of Detroit' - Reproduced from Photograph," as well as the notation, " Jos. Mack, Printer, Detroit." Both versions include captions below labeling the Post Office, City Hall, Pardridge and Blackwell in the Majestic Building, the Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, Merrill Fountain, and the Opera House. A sign reading, "Welcome National Hay Association" is posted on the front of City Hall. The moonlight tower in front of City Hall on the corner of Woodward Avenue and Michigan Avenue is visible. Electric streetcars, horse-drawn carriages, and pedestrians are on the streets below. "1902-1903" handwritten on lower right corner of secondary copy, and "Fine Cigars and Tobacco, Confectionary, Soft Drinks, and School Supplies, Etc., 528 Dix Ave. Detroit, Mich." stamped on its verso.

- Two photographic prints mounted to opposite sides of the same oval-shaped board. Recto bears a sepia-toned photo of City Hall Market, an open-air marked filled with booths, horses, and carts set up behind the City Hall that was in service until 1872, in the present site of Cadillac Square. A sign for "Provisions" is visible along the storefronts on the left side of the picture. A man, three children, a dog, and a horse and a cart are in the middle ground. A woman with a parasol, and a fence or railing that reads, "Hanging 102" is in the foreground. Verso bears a hand-colorized portrait of a seated woman in a purple dress, with white sleeves and a collar. Her hair is pulled back into a chignon and she wears a cross around her neck.

- Small sepia-toned photographic print incorrectly captioned on verso as "Cadillac Square, looking west, March 10th, 1918" which in fact depicts a street-level westward view from Campus Martius down Michigan Avenue. Snow covers the ground. The low light from a sunset silhouettes both the figures in coats and hats which approach the camera and the Majestic Building on the right, as well as creates a flare effect in the center of the image. A large sign, the visible portion reading, "Join... for" is posted on the Majestic Building on the right edge of the frame. City Hall, and the Recreation Building are in the background.

- Sepia-toned photographic print from the studio of Louis James Pesha depicting a large crowd gathered in Campus Martius, for the automobile parade held as part of the Cadillaqua celebration overlapping with the Fourth of July, as viewed from an elevated position, likely at the Majestic Building, facing south. A banner, reading, "Harold Jarvis will sing of Masonic Moonlight on steamer STE. CLAIRE," "City of the Straits Lodge, Mon. July 29," and "Mon. July 29. The majority of the crowd are wearing hats, and boater hats appear to be the predominant style. Streetcars make their way through the crowd, and those headed north on Woodward Avenue carry additional passengers on their roofs. A utility pole near the Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument has become a perch for several spectators as well. American flags are hung from nearly every other window of the Pontchartrain Hotel. A large sign reading, "Conventions & Auto Bulletin" is posted above the corner of Woodward and Fort Street. To its right are several signs advertising railroad lines--Canadian Pacific, Pere Marquette, Union Pacific and Southern Pacific. This corner is also draped with flags and banners. The stretch of Woodward leading to the Detroit River is similarly decorated. "Detroit, Mich. 1907, NA 66537-B" handwritten on verso.

The camera was positioned near the curb in front of City Hall. A streetlight pole is to the right. A car passes heading south on Woodward Avenue. Pedestrians, other automobiles, and electric streetcars also traverse Campus Martius. The Detroit Opera House is in the background on the left. A large sign reading, "Join the Navy for Quick Action," has been posted adjacent to it. The businesses of the Monroe Block, including a pool hall, are in the central background. A billboard for Blackstone Cigars has been posted atop the Second Williams Block. Remnants of winter slush cover the street and sidewalk.

- One sheet, containing pages 363 and 364, from the July 27, 1878 supplement to Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper. Page 363 contains two etchings representing "Michigan.-The City of the Straits-A Ramble Among the Public and Business Establishments of Detroit. From sketches by Walter Yeager and H. Ogden." The captions for the two etchings are as follows: Upper: View of the Campus Martius, Showing the City Hall. Lower: Custom-House Officials at Windsor, Canada, Opposite Detroit, Inspecting the Baggage of Tourists. Page 364 contains the continuation of an article from page 362, "The City of the Straits: Rambles About A Thrifty Western Metropolis." Page 364 contains a section about "Wayne County Savings Bank and Safe Deposit Building," in addition to five etchings with the same theme, "A Ramble Among the Public and Business Establishments of Detroit," as those on page 363. The captions for the etchings on page 364 are as follows: Upper-middle: A Harvesting Scene on D.M. Ferry & Co.' Farm, Grand River Avenue. Left-center: W.B. Wesson, President of the Wayne County Savings Bank and Deposit Company. Mid-center: The Wayne County Savings Bank and Safe Deposit Building. Upper right-center: The People's Savings Bank. Lower right-center: Russell House. Lower-middle: Varnishing Works of Berry Brothers, Corner of Wight and Lieb Streets.
