- Mohawk Tire Sales was at 418-420 North Washington Avenue. The building to the left, that is, north, is thought to be Bradley's Lounge based on the 1958 City Directory. No signs, however, are legible in the photo. Three doors are seen below a sign, "Entrance to Dancing." The city directory describes the Lounge as a beer garden with no mention of dancing, nor is dancing mentioned anywhere else in the area.

- Seen from Washington Avenue North. City directories indicate a business systems store and a physician's offices form the south side of this block. City Planning Division staff annotated the photo.

- Located on the southwest corner of South Washington Avenue and West Washtenaw Street. The Knapp's building was "Knapp's Office Centre" from the 1980s to about 2000. The use of South Washington Avenue for parking ended in 1989.

- Bank of Lansing is on the corner and a view north on North Washington Avenue, mostly the west side of the street. An unsually large crowd of pedestrians are crossing Michigan Avenue. City Planning Division staff annotations are on the photo.

- The building in the 200 block of North Washington Avenue includes the Palms Theatre, which was open from 1957 to 1960. The films shown on the theater marquee were released in 1950 and 1953; most photographs in this collection with dates, however, were taken between 1959 and 1974. In addition to the theater, Rexall Drugs, Firestone Tires, and National China are seen.
