- The stores begin with Maurice Distinctive Apparel at 312-16, Sans Souci Shoppe at 318, Rackley Shoes at 320, Vogue women's clothing at 322, R & H Shoes at 324, and J. C. Penney department store at 330-334 South Washington Avenue. Arbaugh's department store, across Kalamazoo Street in the 400 block, is on the left side of the photo. - The Knapp's building was "Knapp's Office Centre" from the 1980s to about 2000. The parking attendant booth is at Washtenaw Street end of the 200 block of South Washington Avenue, it was removed in 1989. Although the J. C. Penney department store building can been seen, no other stores are identifiable in the photo and it is unlikely that Penney's was still in operation at the time of the photo.
