- The Half Way Inn was located on Chicago Road at Feldkamp Road. Photo caption: "On the last of its 45,560 days: wreckers this summer will tear down the 125-year-old Half Way Inn, on US-112, midway between Saline and Clinton and across from the Polar Bear Inn. Along-side the site, Robert Finkbeiner is building a new home. In pioneer days the Half Way Inn, with its 17 rooms, bar, private distillery, dining room and stables (in the rear) was a scheduled stop for all horse-drawn stage coaches running from Detroit to Chicago. There was (and still is) a small dance floor upstairs, laid with unsupported and unsecured 'spring' boards to give it 'bounce.' The present farm on which the old inn is located is owned and operated by Finkbeiner who lives on another of his farms one half mile south."
