- A pastor and members of his congregation present church bells to be used as the raw material to make weapons for the Confederacy. The officer who accepts the bells removes his hat in recognition of the reverence of the occasion. An African American man (likely a slave) at left has also doffed his hat. Among the other items that have been donated appear to be candlesticks and andirons. Reprinted in the 1880s from original plates created by Volck in the 1860s. Set titled Confederate War Etchings and published by Porter & Coates. This is plate 19. Adalbert Johann Volck originally published this print under the pseudonym V. Blada.
