- Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, pediatrician and associate professor of Human Medicine at Michigan State University and the public health advocate whose research exposed the Flint, MI water crisis, talks about her book, "What the eyes don't see." Hanna-Attisha discusses the history of Flint, how the city got into such a dire financial situation and why she started to investigate the possible lead contamination of Flint's drinking water. She also describes her fight against the State of Michigan's efforts to discredit her research on lead contamination in Flint and its effects on the city's children. She answers questions from the audience.

- An interdisciplinary panel composed of Michigan State University faculty participates in a discussion entitled, "Looking at Flint : the past, present, and future of the city". Panelists describe their research, teaching and writing efforts and explore the current challenges faced by the citizens of Flint, especially the condition of the municipal water system, and the many economic, education, and health issues facing them. Panelists are Mary Schulz of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Debra Furr-Holden, professor of Human Medicine, Rick Sadler, professor of Human Medicine, Manuel Chavez, professor of Journalism, and Trixie Smith, of the MSU Writing Center. Cynthia Jackson-Elmoore, dean of the MSU Honors College, convenes the session and moderates questions from the audience. Part of the series "Sharper Focus/Wider Lens" sponsored by the MSU Honors College. Held in the MSU Student Union.

- Poet and fiction writer Joe Matuzak explains how he started his career in arts administration, and the community knowledge project at the Clinton Township Library in Lenawee County, Michigan, where he served as an artist-in-residence. He talks about the political concerns surrounding the cover art of his book "Eating Fire," the theme of his poems, his relationship with his poet wife, his emotional links to Flint, and his works in progress. Ringlein compares the generation of the 1960s with her contemporaries and says she doesn't see much in the way of social awareness in today's students. Ringlein talks about coming from a large family and the difficulty she had in adjusting to college life and says that she would like to have a career and children, but refuses to accept the traditional housewife role.

- Journalist and author Gordon Young delivers a talk entitled, "Being Flint: Life and Labor in the Shrinking City." Young relates his home buying experience in San Francisco and doing the same in Flint, Michigan as he became reacquainted with his hometown. Young describes what brought him back to Flint and the writing of his book, "Teardown: Memoir of a Vanishing City." He reflects on Flint's decline and what steps have been taken to rejuvenate the city. A question and answer session follows. Young is introduced by Michigan State University Professor John P. Beck.
