Print. Black and white photographic print of an elevated view, looking southeast on Woodward Avenue, toward the new J.L. Hudson Company Department Store addition, Himelhoch's Department Store and the already existing Hudson's building. A series of automobiles are parked on Woodward adjacent to the curb; a man can be seen working on the newly formed sidewalk in front of the addition. Signage for the Fourth Liberty Loan is affixed to the façade of the Hudson's building. Also, the Ferry Building is visible in the left foreground with flags displayed above the entryway. The date is printed on the front of the recto, "Oct. 16. - 18." Also, the photography studio's name, and geographic location are embossed on the recto, "Manning Bros., Detroit."

Print. Black and white photographic print mounted on board of an elevated exterior view of The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store located on Woodward Avenue. Two American flags are visible hanging from the building's façade; signage painted on the east elevation of the building reads, "Hudson's Grows with Detroit." Automobiles and a horse carriage are all visible parked adjacent to the store; pedestrians are visible on the sidewalk and crossing the street. Himelhoch's retailer neighbors Hudson's to the west, as well as the Weil Furniture Company. The date and store name are printed on the bottom of the recto, "Hudson's; May - 18 - 15." Also, hand-written on the verso, "Hudson's in 1915 - Woodward and Grand River."

The photograph depicts the steel frame construction of a new component of The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. The F. Rolshoven Co., is visible on the corner, and Hudson's is visible, adjacent on Gratiot. Automobiles are parked along the curb, and are also moving along the thoroughfare. Streetcars and horse carriages are also visible. Pedestrians populate the sidewalk, and the intersections. The subject, date, and photographic sequence numbers are printed on the bottom of the recto, "Hudson's; August 15 - 14; No. - 13.; 7882." Also, the photographer's name, and geographic location are stamped on the verso, "Charles Ruel Messinger, Commercial Photographer, 1646 Woodward Ave. Detroit, Mich. Several pedestrians are visible on the street corner. Automobiles are visible parked along the curb in front of the retailer. Herbst Clothing neighbors Hudson's on the southeast side of the building; American flags are visible affixed to the facade.
