Washington Liebermann's store in Lansing, Michigan, created by modernist designer George Nelson. - Professor Susan Selke delivers a talk titled, "Rethinking the Packaging of the Products You Buy - Is There Hope to Reduce Waste?" Selke talks about the Packaging school at Michigan State University, the utility of packages, minimizing packaging materials, and recycling. She explains the communication function labeling performs, how packaging has changed, and how other countries monetize the costs of waste in the cost of the packaging. Sleke also describes the value of recycling as a cost reduction method when there is a use for the material.
