- Description:
- The building in the 200 block of North Washington Avenue includes the Palms Theatre, which was open from 1957 to 1960. The films shown on the theater marquee were released in 1950 and 1953; most photographs in this collection with dates, however, were taken between 1959 and 1974. In addition to the theater, Rexall Drugs, Firestone Tires, and National China are seen.

- A group of unidentified staff standing outside the Robert B. Shank grocery market, most likely at 200 S. Washington Ave. Shank sometimes had multiple locations for his market in the 1890s. He died in 1900.

- Seen from an upper floor of Lansing City Hall. Hotel Olds is on the southeastern corner with several businesses on the street level. Capitol Avenue was one way northbound. City Planning Division staff notations are present.

- The W. T. Grant department store is on the corner facing North Washington Avenue. The remainder of the block is occupied by the Lansing City Hall (identified as "Old" in the 1959 City Directory because a newer city hall was under construction). South of West Lenawee is Lansing Speedy Auto Wash and Service selling Sinclair oil products at 500-512 South Washington Avenue. The parking lot on the corner appears to belong to the auto wash and service center based on city directory listings. City Planning Division staff annotated the photo. The photo has a crack in the emulsion where it appears to have been folded; it is visible as a straight line.
