Remnants of a red wax seal appended on a tongue., Fifteenth-century, French acknowledgment by Pierre de Tarville, master of the guard at Neuville-aux-Bois (near Orleans in France) of receipt of the sum of ₤20.15s., from Guillaument le Moine, the Receiver of the Duchy of Orleans. Of this sum, ₤18.5s is for his year's salary (at 2s. A day) and the rest for his dress allowance.
