Gen'l Stuart's raid to the White House.
- Notes:
- Confederate cavalrymen under the command of James Ewell Brown Stuart descend upon the Federal line, capturing a sutler who had provided provisions (in this case "ale and lager") to the soldiers. The long line of covered wagons stretches into the distance. The United States flag atop the building is being pulled down by one of the Confederate soldiers. Reprinted in the 1880s from original plates created by Volck in the 1860s. Set titled Confederate War Etchings and published by Porter & Coates. This is plate 21. Adalbert Johann Volck originally published this print under the pseudonym V. Blada.
