Michigan National Bank.

Notes:

“Grand Rapids Trust building, cor. Monroe and Ionia.” Built in 1926 for the Grand Rapids Trust Company, this building became the Michigan National Bank building in 1941. Michigan National curtailed operations in the 1990's. The building as shown is a multi-story (at least 12 floors) concrete building with tall, arched three-part windows at ground level on front and sides, recessed corners on the first 11 floors, and reversed corners on the top two floors. A flagpole and the top of a tower on the roof can be seen. A street level sign on the Peck Building immediately to the west along Monroe Ave. says “Cole and Erwin, Jewelers.” Along Ionia Street (left side of building) is some remaining workmen's scaffolding, and farther along is Mark's Auto Supplies and Chinnick Restaurant. Several vehicles can be seen along the street, including a pickup truck in motion. Four men are standing around a fire hydrant in the foreground, and a policeman is standing in the center of the intersection. 1930
