Notes on slide: The large spread base of the Pedestal Pile. This Pedestal Concrete Pile was formed in soft soil at St. Louis, MO., and was dug up for inspection. The broad footing enabled the Pedestal Pile to carry the same load as a tapered pile, of nearly twice the length, driven in the same soil.
