Niagara Bridges; Lewiston Suspension Bridge

Notes:
Built in 1899 by Richard S. Buck, this bridge was meant to replace the Lewiston-Queenston Suspension Bridge of 1851, built by Edward W. Serrell, and destroyed in a storm in 1864. It was in part constructed of the 2nd Falls View Suspension Bridge (aka Niagara-Clifton Suspension Bridge) which was moved to the Lewiston-Queenston site after a steel arch replacement bridge had been built. For more information see: Spanning Niagara: The International Bridges 1848-1962 (Seattle: Univ. of Washington Press, 1984).
