Dr. Marcie Ray, ethnomusicologist and assistant professor of musicology at the Michigan State University College of Music, delivers a talk entitled, "Love, sex and greed : reflecting gender and class in French comic opera," at the Michigan State University Museum. Ray describes the history of the French aristocracy, beginning with King Louis XIV, and the role it played in the development of French opera. Ray answers questions from the audience. Ray is introduced by Michigan State University Professor John P. Beck. Part of the "Our Daily Work/Our Daily Lives" Brown Bag series sponsored by the MSU School of Human Resources and Labor Relations, the MSU Museum, and co-sponsored by the MSU Center for Gender in Global Context, and the MSU Women's Resource Center.
